When do I need to start looking for a place for industrial training?

You should start applying for places at least three months before your training.

How and where do I apply for industrial training placements at organizations?

From the Special Semester of 2011/12, all UM students should apply for placements at
http://umisisweb.um.edu.my.

When do I need to register for my industrial training?

You need to register for your industrial training at http://umisisweb.um.edu.my (register course) when your department/faculty enables the system.

How do I register for my training?

You need to REGISTER and CONFIRM online at http://umisisweb.um.edu.my (register course).

What do I do if I have problems finding placements?

Contact your Coordinator or CITRA immediately.

What do I do if I have problems at or with the organisations?

Contact your Coordinator or CITRA immediately.

Can I change the organization at which I am doing or have agreed to do my industrial training?

Not without permissions from you Head of Department or Dean. Please contact your Coordinator immediately in such cases.

What documents do I need to submit to my Coordinator and CITRA?

  1. Confirmation Form within two week of commencing your training to your Coordinator and copy it to CITRA.
  2. Industrial Training report (if applicable) and any other forms of assessment required by your department or faculty within the deadline they set.
  3. Feedback on industrial training (done online at http://umisisweb.um.edu.my) – this is compulsory and failure to do so will result in your registration for the following semester being blocked.

As an international student, can I apply for placements in Malaysia?

Yes, you can. Contact your Coordinator or CITRA if you are facing problems getting a position in Malaysia.

Where can I get the procedures on industrial training placements?

Can I apply for funding from UM for my training?

Funding is not provided for local training. Funding for overseas placements is subject to terms and conditions and the availability of funds. Refer to the Industrial Training Guidelines at http://citra.um.edu.my/?modul=Internship.
