Office of The Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor's Office is given the considerable duty of handling the gathering of information and assisting in the decision-making of important tasks of the University. The office ensures that the key personnel in the University are up-to-date on UM's current situation so that the correct and best decisions concerning the University are made. Ably supported by the other offices of the Chancellery as well as the University as a whole, the office leads with confidence and dignity in the best traditions of University of Malaya.

Friday: 8.00 am - 12.15 pm, 2.45 pm - 5.00 pm

Closed on Saturdays, Sundays & Public Holidays

University of Malaya Quality Management & Enhancement Centre (QMEC) based on the framework and requirements of MS ISO 9001:2000 has been in operation since June 2001. QMEC encompasses all the core processes in UM which includes teaching and learning, research and consultative activities and other supporting services.

High Impact Research

The high impact research grants from the University of Malaya are to fund projects which will result in publication of manuscripts in Tier 1 ISI/Web of Science journals. As such, the emphasis will be on fundamental research which will lead to the generation of new knowledge rather than on the development of new products or patents. It is also aimed at generating more research capabilities and expertise within the university and this may result from collaboration with overseas ivy-league universities.
